This past summer, Vertra joined the movement at the Manhattan Beach Pier for the 13th year of riding to fight back against cancer—something that affects so many of those we love. The five-hour ride raises money and awareness for cancer research and, since 2013, has generated more than $13.3 million for charity. But beyond that, Team Vertra showed up with their ‘why.’

Instead of simply going through the motions, our 'why' had a name: Carla—a friend, wife, mother of two, and a vital part of this small, local beach community—who is currently fighting back against her breast cancer diagnosis. Carla joined us. She rode. We celebrated. Hearts were full, and eyes began to get leaky, because more than the success of the event, Carla reminded us that joy can be found even in the midst of pain and uncertainty.
